In case you were not able to access the Measurection server in the early hours of this morning (U.S. Eastern time), here's what's known now. The Measurection server went down some time after 4:30 AM EDT this morning. I submitted an online "Urgent" problem report to the company that hosts our site,
Vertex Host, at 4:50 AM. I received a response from a live person at 5:08 AM advising that the problem had been confirmed and that it was being worked on.
At 5:49 AM they advised me that the site should now be fully up. They asked me to confirm that it was up. I did, and it was.
The cause of the failure is not yet known. System logs will be examined later in the day to try to track down the cause so that it won't recur.
For those of you who may not know, the time to respond and the time to repair by
Vertex Host, a low cost provider, at a time outside normal business hours was excellent.
