After getting undressed, we were taken into the hallway to be weighed and measured then back into the exam room for temperature, blood pressure, pulse and some questions that were carefully written down on the clipboard. Doctor would come in later and would thoroughly look into our eyes, ears, nose and throats, feel our necks and have us lie down where he'd check us with the stethoscope, check our knee and feet reflexes, asking "does it hurt" every step along the way. We knew the end of the exam was coming when he'd tell us to take off our underwear and he'd examine our penises and testicles - which became much more thorough (and embarrassing) when puberty started to kick in. Altogether, I didn't keep track of time back then but going to the doctor was probably 30 minutes minimum to an hour. And what I just described was pretty standard up until young adulthood.
