"Chinese men have no reason to feel inferior about the size of their penises, according to a Hong Kong study which showed local men measured up to others elsewhere in the world below the belt.

 

"Our conclusion is that Hong Kong people are no smaller than western men, where their penises are concerned," said Chan Lung-wai, director of the Urology Centre at the Union Hospital, who headed the study.

 

"There has always been the myth that westerners have bigger penises and their (sexual) ability is better."

 

A group of scientists in Hong Kong spent five months from October last year measuring 148 ethnic Chinese volunteers aged between 23 and 93.

 

The average length of their flaccid penises was 8.46 cm (3.4 inches), which compared favourably with similar studies on other men overseas.

 

Germans have average lengths of about 8.6 cm, Israelis 8.3 cm, Turks 7.8 cm and Filippinos 7.35 cm. Italians were the longest at 9 cm and Americans averaged 8.8 cm.

 

The study did not measure the penises when they were erect.

 

It found that a man's height bore no relation to the length of his member, but those with higher body mass indexes, or fat content, appeared to have shorter penises.

 

"It seems that as someone gets older and fatter, his blood vessels change, so the penile size is not static. It may be a reflection of the condition of the person's blood vessels," Chan said, adding that this could spur yet another study."

As a gay man with Chinese ethnicity, maybe I can chip in my two cents. My flaccid length is about 3.5", which is about the same as the average in this study. My erect size is 5.75"x4.5". From my experiences with Chinese, white, and black guys, I think that the Chinese (or eastern Asian) penis size is slightly smaller. That difference may not be always statistically significant, depending on how your survey and study are conducted. Maybe that’s why some studies claim that there is no significant difference, and others find there is one (probably this is the case in most surveys). I think that there is a small difference that you can “feel”. Most eastern Asian guys I have been with are smaller than me, while most white guys I have been with are bigger than me (especially girth wise).

My experience is that the whole range of sizes can be found in all races.

 

I have been with some Asian guys with AMAZING cocks. Having said that, I have certainly encountered more smaller ones on Asian guys than on Caucasian guys.

 

Don't misunderstand me, I am not saying that Asian guys are generally smaller, I'm just saying that smaller ones are probably more common among Asian guys than Caucasian guys.

I agree with you, Minidick. With my experiences with Asian guys, I have seen one that was amazingly big, and thick. But the rest of them were all about my size or smaller.

 

I have seen pretty small dicks on Caucasian guys, too. But I think that there are more of bigger ones among them.

 

But again, I don’t think the difference is that significant. Most Asian guys come with smaller body, anyway.

---I wonder if this is changing over time. I've seen studies(forgive the lack of footnotes, Scorp)that indicate the following contentions:

--Everybody used to be smaller in total size and shorter. The Roman soldier who conquered the Western world was about four feet nine inches tall. They used short swords because they were too little to swing the big ones. Julius Caesar was considered a giant at six feet.

---Visit an antique shop and look at a bed--you'll see it was made for a shorter person than today's average--and it's more than just luxury.

---Studies have shown increasing average height, weight and earlier onset of puberty in American children just since 1900, and the differences are more pronounced since 1945.

 

----Much of this change is ascribed to a widespread increase in protein in the diet, especially that of young children.

 

----Can the same changes be expected among the Asians? As I look at various sites, I see more Asians describing themselves as over 5 feet 8 inches tall, in contrast to my own impressions of Vietnamese men as almost invariably short and shrimpy, and our own WW-II propaganda describing the Japanese the same way. I agree with the study when it says height does not correlate to penis length.

I also agree that a very hefty man with large muscles/heavy fat will 'appear' to have a smaller penis proportionately to his hefty build.

 

Having said that - It seems pretty obvious penis size is (generally) relative to a persons 'frame' and 'build'.

[remember muscles and fat can change up and down]

 

Ethnic Chinese are going to be in proportion Im sure.

Now.. generally ethnic chinese are of 'slighter' build.

Its not height we are talking about.

as a very general rule most asian men (esp Chinese) are of a slighter stature and build and their penis matchs.

 

Honestly.. im getting entirely suspicious of all these studies and Im really leaning to trust the condom companies research over all others (since they depend on it to make cash for themselves)

Trojan didnt release all their findings and they are not gonna be called 'Scientists' but basically they will tell you their best selling condom in Taiwan is NOT nearly as big as their best selling condom in England.
