Some "Snugger Fit" condoms not snug enough

Recommended Posts

I've been away for a while, focused on school and life. I'm still single, but going to counseling for my issues regarding intimacy. I guess you could say I was set back a little today.

I finally ordered some "snugger fit" condoms to see if they would fit. I bought Caution Wear Iron Grip because they were on sale (my other choice was the Lifestyles one), and I tried one on today. My girth is slightly less than 4" (somewhere between 3.95" and 4", though it used to be 4" exactly a few years ago), and from what I read about condom width-to-circumference calculations, they should have fit.

Unfortunately it was still loose enough for the base to slide up. It was definitely tighter than the regular ones I tried recently that were given out for free in the dorm, but just not tight enough to stay on securely.

Are the Lifestyles Snugger Fit condoms any different from Iron Grip? Am I just doomed to not be able to use condoms? I can't afford the custom-fit ones at $11 for a 12 pack. Granted, I'm far from having sex at this point, but it would have been a big step up for my confidence to find condoms that fit me.

Any advice or brand suggestions would be appreciated.

I've got some Caution Wear Iron Grip condoms and they're the narrowest I've found. They're definitely snugger than the Lifestyles Snugger Fit.

I think my dick is skinnier than yours and I find them almost too tight when I first try to unroll one onto my penis. It makes me wonder if we got two different kinds of condoms.

I think I may have over-reacted to the first one I tried. I made sure to keep air out of the reservoir when I tried again, and there was no leakage this time. Everything stayed in the tip, and the seal around the head was airtight. I think the primary problem the first time was a lack of lubrication. They should be snug enough to stay on during sex with enough external lubrication. The only issue I have is that the base starts to roll back up over itself a little bit, and when I try to fix that, it starts to wrinkle up. It is still snug, although not as skin-tight as I've seen in photos or porn.

Is it normal for the head to get squished up inside the reservoir tip at times, or is that just from friction due to not enough lubrication?

A ring or strap would probably be beneficial for holding the base down. Thanks for the replies, everyone. Admittedly, despite my age (early 30s), I've only tried using condoms twice before in my life (ten years ago and last week), and both times were experiments with normal condoms that were too baggy. Even with the friction from masturbation, these new ones don't slip off, so if I can manage to keep the base from rolling up, I should be fine.

I'm a little confused, because your profile says 4 1/2 - 5 for the circumference. What is your exact girth, if you don't mind me asking?

I'm at 4 inch girth, and snugger fit goes on fine. I've had sex with regular condoms as well (Lifestlyes, Trojans). The worst is when you really think about it, and you get nervous, and your erection gets softer(smaller), causing it to loosen up. Then you freak out and go soft.

But I think snugger fit should do the job.

Technically, yes, but all of the condoms labeled "snugger fit" that I have found have about the same width (49-50mm), so If one doesn't work, chances are none of them will. However, the ones I ordered should work, I think. They aren't as tight as I would like, but they don't slide off, and they are one of the smallest non-custom condoms that I have found.

Your girth is much, much bigger than mine. Any regular condom should fit you, but for me, the snug fitting ones just barely stay on. Since there are so few snug condom brands, that really makes it hard, even with the internet, to find the right one to use.

It kind of makes me mad that all the stores (sex-shops not included) carry two kinds of condoms: normal and huge, and half of them are the magnum size and up. Not that I would want to carry a small-size condom up to the cash register, but still...

Thanks. I didn't think to look at international brands. The price is way too much, though :( More expensive than custom ones.

After trying the Iron Grip ones three times, I feel that they will be good for me. I rolled it all the way down to my base, and it stays on quite nicely without being too loose or tight. I think my penis is bigger in girth at the head and upper half, and slightly smaller in the lower half. The condom definitely fits better around and below the head than it does above the base. I have no idea how it would hold up to real sex, but I am happy with the results so far.

I measured one unrolled and laid out flat, and it was 1.75" across, which is 45mm. When I ordered it, I was under the impression that it was 1.92" (49mm), which is what I saw on several condom-selling websites. I don't know where they got that measurement, because normal condoms are around 2", and the difference for me when worn is night and day between the normal and snug ones.

Is there a way to edit the thread title? They are in fact snug enough.

I am going to try the Lifestyles snugger condoms to see if there is a difference. I noticed that it has a shaped head area, which the Iron Grip does not have.

I noticed that one website said that the Lifestyle one is 44mm under the head, but 49mm base width. Is that a reference to the shaped head, and the rest of the condom is 49mm? Another website listed the condom width as simply 1.75". This is getting frustrating.

I'm the same size as you encolpius. Lifestyle Snugger Fit are great(as condoms go anyway). I also recommend Kimono Textured. Nice and tight, and shapes around the head nicely. The latter are probably easier to find and less embarrassing to buy.

I was very relieved to see that both are easily accessible at the local sex shop since the vast majority of stores don't carry snugger condoms.

My girth is exactly 4" at my most ridged. I have had many condoms slip off or into the girls. I now have a bunch of my one custom fit condoms. Best decision of my life. They'll mail you a free sample pack

I hated the huge roll-up of extra rubber at the base of my dick.  Pretty much spoiled everything.

Back before I developed ED, I always found that so long as a condom was snug enough, the extra latex rolled up around the base of my dick was a bit like wearing a cock ring on my 4.5" long penis.

Yesh, it did feel like a ring.  Back in my day, I didn't need a ring to stay-up, so there was no benefit.   Never tried one.

I remember not liking the tight feel.  Maybe too tight.  Or maybe it was psychological as, usually back then I didn't think about being shorter than other guys and the condom made it too obvious when that big roll formed at the base.  I remember not feeling so good when I watched a guy roll one on in a XXX massage parlor locker room.  He ran out of condom roll with at least an inch of his cock left to go.  Back in the 70s and early 80s most active people didn't worry about disease enough to wear a condom.

I did try to jack off in a condom in recent years to see if I could have sex in one because I thought an opportunity might arise.  Couldn't even get one on without losing my erection irrespective of the roll-up problem.  Never got it on that far.  I just gave-up, though if I had been more serious I could have found a custom condom that fit, I guess.

The same unpleasant tightness while rolling on was just too much now.  Maybe my dick was a little thicker than way back in the 80s or the standard condom now has less diameter or my dick isn't as robust as I used to be.  Likely!
