goldenboy Posted November 29, 2019 Report Share Posted November 29, 2019 I'm not sure what the answer is in my case, but I will add that one of the most unsettling things that I have faced over the years was "not knowing" exactly whether I was big or small or average, and that the oscillation can be very unsettling. Whether it's appropriately PC to say it or not, our identities as guys are deeply, deeply impacted, in my case anyway, by our relationship with our penis. If you grow up thinking your penis is small, all of your other psychological relationships with the world will reflect that. If you grow up large, I'd imagine it's the opposite. In my case, I thought I was big up until about the end of 8th grade, then "knew" I was small, and then suddenly had reason to think I was big again, at least for a bit, starting at the beginning of 10th grade. All were uncomfortable, but having developed the psychology of a guy with a small dick, it was weird deep down grappling with the sudden realization I might be large. It wasn't really an accurate perception, but in the moment it felt sort of like wearing shoes that were 3 sizes too big. Although I liked the idea of it, it wasn't "me", and I thus didn't feel comfortable in my own skin. I wouldn't necessary say I was happy settling back into the realization I was small, but in some ways it made me more comfortable back in my own skin. I guess the message is...be careful what you wish for. The relationship between the psyche and the penis is pretty profound, and if you suddenly change your size, you might feel out of sorts. I grew up knowing from my early teens that I was smaller than average. I even had a specific occasion at Boy Scout camp when I was humiliated about my size by another kid in front of my tent mate. While my size issues certainly affected my psychological approach to sexual matters, they never once crossed over to affect my self confidence regarding academics throughout my education nor to affect my career achievements throughout my work life.
