New Year's resolutions

Yes, and it can lead to levels of erotic delight you might never have imagined.

BTW, I made it to 61 days last summer, which I never thought possible. Last fall, I decided to extend my quest; as of 1.7.19, I'm up to 90 days and am aiming for 100 days. Of course, any peener play and edging require considerable focus to keep from going over the falls, but I've succeeded thus far. I also have incredible amounts of energy, inspiring me to extend my daily aerobic walking or workouts on my exercise bike. I'm also sleeping very soundly.

By all means, pursue your resolution, and please keep us posted. I'm eager to learn what happens.

I went over 90 day a few years ago.

It became effortless after a few weeks.  I would play with an erection now and then, but had little desire to ejaculate.  Is that cheating?

I decided it wasn't good for me!

Yeah,my new year resolution too. It has been 8 days since. Everytime I grope my crotch, I endeavor to move my hands away. I am not sure what good it will yield. I do it because I spent lots of time watching porn, which leads to masturbation. Therefore, I decided to quit masturbation and porn in tandem.

I think that since I first started masturbating when I was 10 y/o, almost 11, the longest I’ve ever gone without doing it was maybe ten days or so. The reason why I went so long without doing it that time was maybe because I had the flu or something. I think that was the reason anyway. I can’t think of any thing other than health issues that would have kept me from doing it for so long.

I failed. Made it until the 11th, was watching some porn and ... It was over.

I can honestly say I made it till 12:45am jerking into the toilet to my wifes friend. And had two more by bedtime. But that's gonna happen most years. But its my wifes fault, she should invite less big tits.

As the testicles constantly produce sperm I don't think it is healthy to keep the little fellows trapped, they need to be released every now and then.  I would have wet dreams if I couldn't find some form of release.  The little swimmers have got to come out somehow!!

I don't buy into this theory.  I had a vasectomy 15 years ago.  There are not any swimmers coming out no matter what I do.  The testicles I believe "recycle" sperm as a natural new/old cycle.  I do believe that ejaculating on a regular bases is good for your prostate as it helps to flush out toxins but even that is up for debate.

Your swimmers are released into your body where they are resorbed.  The sperm are not recycled as they cease to be sperm in that process.

Resorb: (biology) To dissolve and assimilate.  To break down and assimilate the components.

I also had a vasectomy several years ago and while I realize I don't produce "swimmers", I still produce a LOT of semen. If I go more than a couple days without masturbating, I have erotic dreams and wake up hard in a wet bed. And when I do ejaculate, it's quite a bit of semen:

The testicles constantly produce sperm even when a vasectomy has taken place. Sperm are stored in the "epididymis" until ejaculation takes place. After 3-5 days they are re-absorbed by the body if ejaculation hasn't taken place. This is in order to keep only the youngest and healthiest sperm ready for potential fertilisation of the egg when required.

Frequent ejaculation keeps the sperm healthy as long as that frequency isn't more than once a day. Too frequent ejaculation results in immature sperm being released.

As far as the prostate goes, the more frequent ejaculation is the healthier the prostate remains. Ejaculation flushes toxins and bacteria build up from within the structures of the gland lessening the chances of infection and disease of the gland.

If you need healthy sperm in order to start a family then ejaculation once every day or two is best practice. If your sole aim is for a healthy prostate,..... then....... Happy wanking!!

Some people opposed vasectomy because they thought there was some bad effects from the re-absorption above.

Was there any validity to their concern.  I don't know what worried them.  Maybe just rationalizing a religious belief?

@overthehill I doubt there'd be any bad effects from reabsorption as the body does this naturally on a constant basis, that is of course presuming that any given guy isn't an habitual ejaculator. Which a lot of us are, but there still has to be guys who have periods of abstinence through illness, tiredness, too busy etc throughout their life. The body also reabsorbs any completely defective sperm produced, completely defective meaning structurally incomplete.

If you break down sperm to a molecular level, what's present to cause harm? Sperm are made up of deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) a plethora of amino acids and the basis of all living things and their cells within, H2better known to us as water. Then consider the volume of sperm reabsorbed, an average volume of semen ejaculated is a spoon full. Of this amount around 1 - 3% is made up of sperm, and that amount of reabsorption every few days is not going to harm anything in the body.

Once upon a time people thought vasectomy caused the testicles to die!

Thank goodness knowledge has moved on!
