Inspired by some of the chat in the 'Stuffing' thread.

I've always worn Speedos, it's what I've always been used to wearing. I was on the swim team in high school and college back in the early 80's, so they've always just felt comfortable to me. I continued to swim in them after graduating, and by extension I wore them at beaches and on vacation. I can't think of a single time where I've worn shorts in a body of water.

I'm quite aware that the vast majority of the time I'm the only guy around who's wearing Speedos but it's never put me off. My nickname amongst buddies is 'Speedo Dad', hence the forum username. Obviously I'm aware that Speedos, by their very nature, are revealing but it's not something that would ever prevent me from wearing them.

In recent years I've mixed things up by wearing square cut trunks, but that's about as 'conservative' as I'll go with swimwear. It's generally a 50/50 split between wearing Speedos and the square cut trunks these days.

I haven’t worn speedos since I was a young boy. I have nothing at all against guys wearing speedos, provided they have a suitable physique. I have what I guess is a suitable body frame and shape to wear speedos even now, but I don’t. I don’t because I have such a small penis. I’m very self conscious about the total absence of any noticeable bulge I would present. And I’m NOT going to ...stuff.  LOL.

I have the body for Speedos, I just don't have the "fill" for Speedos after being in the water!

I always think it's a shame when men say that their size stops them from wearing Speedos (or something just as revealing - like a wrestling singlet). Wish I could bottle the confidence or whatever it is I have and sell it, haha!

This is me getting out of the water in Speedos.

@canuck45 I certainly should not have used the word ‘they’ in my post. If ‘they’, those round bellied guys in your pic, feel comfortable wearing speedos then who the hell am I to tell ‘them’ different. It’s just that I personally cannot not over come my own insecurities to wear them anymore. I actually admire those men in the picture for their confidence and self assuredness.

I didn't answer the final question because for some men Speedos are a fashion faux pax and for others they are not.  I see that difference as related entirely to body size, not to penis size.  A fat man should never wear Speedos in public.

That's the principal reason I wouldn't wear them.

thats  body shaming by proxy.... hahahahahahahaha
Anyone can wear a speedo.....same as going nude.
Males are succumbing to the "ideal" man, like women have suffered for years
6 pack at 60, wrinkle creams, hair dyes....whats next? Tummy tucks.... pshaw on all the rot

My votes were a bit contradictory as I wear both depending on the situation & company.

In public around our general social set it's usually always shorts to hide the size issue from the masses.

Beaches & pools outside my local area it's always Speedo as there's anonymity.

At home about the hot tub it's almost always Speedos for 90% of the company.

There are in France for certain.

At a public pool, yes.  The idea is that you can't go swimming in clothes you could wear on the street: in a public pool they want you to wear specialised clothing that you only wear for swimming, not your dirty street clothes.  At beaches etc., there are no rules about swimwear, though Islamophobes have harassed some women for wearing 'burkinis'.

When I was driving an Uber, I talked to a lot of people about islamophobic mistreatment they received. It made me want to buy a burkini and WISH some idiot would try me out. Those things are very expensive!

Anyway, thanks, and also thank you @canuck45 for answering my question.

When I was growing up, speedos were pretty much the standard swimwear for boys and men of all ages here in the UK (and on holiday in Europe)

Then as I entered my teens, board shorts became the thing, pretty much took over within 2 years. I stayed in speedos much later though because I was in the swimming team for both school and the city.

Nowadays I'm in speedos if it's anywhere in Europe, or anywhere even a bit gay. Otherwise board shorts (kinda short ones).
I'm a big fan of the look of guys in speedos though, so my husband indulges me by wearing speedos everywhere :)

@Tsoren I've seen some sights on European beaches when it comes to Speedos and guys with "oversized equipment" One guy I remember had balls so big they didn't even fit inside them properly!

Another guy who clearly had huge balls and a huge penis, had the biggest bulge I've ever seen in my life! God knows how big his flaccid size was, he had one so long it seemingly curved alongside one of his balls and back up the side of the other! So many people stared, a group of young girls pointing and giggling and I did wonder whether he liked the attention or got embarrassed by it!

I've also seen many guys showing virtually nothing and don't seem to give a damn! I've admired their bravery, if I can call it that, so much so that I've questioned myself as to exactly why I hace this self conscious attitude towards Speedos!

@thezulu I would imagine you attract quite a bit of attention in speedos.  I know it would be rude, but I probably couldn't help myself and I would be staring a lot.  Do people stare quite a bit?  Since you like wearing speedos, you must be comfortable with the attention?

I do attract quite a lot of attention, yes, and at gay beaches that's what I'm going for! Even at mixed venues though I don't mind people looking. These days I'm probably more comfortable wearing less clothes (I've never really been a natural at dressing well)

Part of this too, is that I grew up with this - as I said, I was in speedos for the swimming teams all through my teen years. My package grew well before my height growth spurt, so it was even more oversized looking on me at the time. I definitely got a lot of stares then, but I got used to it I guess - I had to.

I also started going to nude beaches in my teens as well, which definitely helped me be more comfortable in my own skin.

I used to used to wear a speedo at the YMCA when swimming laps when I was younger and had some abs.  I went when the pool was pretty empty.

I don't care what style swimsuit other guys wear, it is their choice.  I don't care if it is a fashion faux pas or not.  It takes a large set of balls to slip into one with a big gut and tiny dick while in public.  I admire guys for being brave and wearing one.

No Speedos fo me now since I have gained weight and lost my abs under fat.  The water also causes my severe shrinkage.  I will wear one occasionally if alone and out in the sun where nobody will see me.  One thing I will not do is stuff, that is false advertising.
