When I was growing up, average was considered to be 6"-7". I always considered myself to be below average, so I was always apprehensive about my size. Plus I was a "grower" which also made me feel small. I also had a late puberty, so in Jr. High (when I had to shower with others) I was barely a nub. I have wondered if I would have been more confident in my younger years (at least after puberty) had I known I was in the average range.
