Bigger penises over-represented in dating and everywhere else?

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I am new to this forum and am finding comfort in being able to talk about issues faced by smaller-than-average guys. One thing I’ve noticed is that a lot of guys on here (and another similar online forum) talk about how they are much less likely to put themselves out there dating because of fear of rejection. I wonder if one of the effects of this is that smaller men aren’t encountered as often, and therefore the collective sense of what is “normal” gets skewed upward. I’m gay, and notice that the only guys who share dick pics on apps like Grindr are guys with rather large penises. Similar experience in locker rooms and spas - the dicks I see all seem to be above what I thought was normal.  I always assumed I was seeing a representative sample, but given how timid I am in sharing pics of myself or being naked in public, I’m realizing that probably isn’t true. I’m wondering though if that means those of us who do go out and date are perceived as relatively smaller than we actually are, which compounds the problem! Any thoughts?

Yes, you have nailed it for gay, straight, and bi, I do believe.  I think porn, hook-up culture, and computer dating have intensified this situation.

The statistics gathered at, say, Spring Break on the beach compared to random urology patients confirm what you say.  Too often, sports participation, also.

The best scientific studies say, 5 to 5.5 is average, but too many people consider that small.

I totally agree with your comments.

Men tend to overestimate their penissize on chats and dating sites. Most of the time you have to subtract 1 inch to the size they tell you they have.

So on internet almost all men have penises from 6 to 9 inches. In real life they are rather from 5 to 8 inches. So 1 inch smaller than the size they give you on internet.

Bigger guys will inevitably be more confident about making their size public knowledge. I see this all the time at the gym. In the UK at the moment there is an explosion of TV programmes featuring full frontal male nudity. If these shows had aired 20 years ago then I'm sure they would have featured bigger guys because these were the only men willing to participate at the time. It's heartening to see in this new strand of programming that alot of average sized men are featured. This can only be a good thing going forward. It definitely would have helped me if I'd seen such shows as a teenager.

I think outside the naturist community this is very true.  The bigger guys are more confident and more willing to show.  Guys with bigger dicks get "featured" in the locker room, at a fraternity, at parties, etc.
