How to earn the next badge in your profile

While I "appreciate" your response, I was hoping there was a complete listing of all the ranks and badges.

Ahh well, Proficient suffices, never wanted to be considered an instructor or teacher (Mentor) and as for a grand, the last time I came close was changing a grand(£ sterling) into your greeny things in a Western Union in Kearney, Nebraska: the young lady said 'Gee what pruddie money'! Made my day.

How exactly does one achieve points, is there a breakdown somewhere of how and when points are allotted?

I also can’t see how many points I currently have in my profile.  Don’t really care about my points but very curious.  I’m assuming it’s a measure to encourage participation.  Not a carrot for me as I love sharing and posting on here and contributing to the community.  Here’s hoping this site never goes away like so many others have!

I think you click on your profile name in top right and the pop-up will show your current rank and points to next. Not sure how it works, and I've been here a long time!

Points are indeed awarded for participation.  That includes starting a new topic, posting a reply, following a topic, following another user, posting in the Gallery, posting a comment in the gallery, and other activities.  Unfortunately, I can't locate a list of the points associated with each activity.

Now that you reminded me, I do remember some sort of list Rod posted.

@Carl58 If you click on the list of badges earned (in your profile), you will get a breakdown of what those badges already earned mean but not what's needed to reach the next level. Those who were here before June 2021 will likely see something akin to "earned before June 2021" for some or all of their badges. Any badges earned after that date will indicate the specific date on which a badge was earned.
