As of April 2026, the Texas Tech University System is phasing out academic programs, minors, and certificates "centered on" sexual orientation and gender identity (SOGI). A directive from Chancellor Brandon Creighton mandates freezing related admissions, banning SOGI content in most lower-level courses, and enforcing a strict binary definition of sex.

Key aspects of the policy directive include:

Program Elimination: Courses and degrees focused on women's and gender studies are being phased out, with a June 15, 2026 deadline to implement changes.

Curriculum Restrictions: Faculty are directed to recognize only two sexes and may not teach that gender is separate from biological sex as a "factual or scientific baseline".

Admissions Freeze: Admissions to SOGI-related programs are frozen, though currently enrolled students may finish their degrees.

Impact on Research: The policy limits, and in some cases bans, the inclusion of gender identity topics in graduate-level research and theses.

Scope: These restrictions apply across all five campuses within the Texas Tech University System.

While the policy restricts gender-focused programs, it allows for objective instruction on relevant scientific topics like genetics or endocrinology. However, faculty members have expressed significant concerns regarding academic freedom and the removal of these academic offerings.

The left forced Kathleen Stock, and Carole Hooven out for saying sex and gender was biological, how the right will force you out if you say it isn't.

What happens when a person is born with genitals from both genders? Does that person cease to exist or do they have to choose one that is more predominant?

Personally I could care less how a person identifies gender wise. If they want to be genderless that is fine also. As long as it doesn't affect me (negatively somehow) the gender of a person has no impact on my life.

Reminds me of when women first started using Ms instead of Miss or Mrs, some people in an uproar....ridiculous idea  haha

Maybe I will start signing things Mx. Smith.  No gender OR marital status indicators.

Gender identifying.
Host/Hostess, Waiter/Waitress,  Steward/Stewardess
Some changed, server, flight attendant
Some never used: doctor, teacher, student, chef, dentist

Also goes for marriage in my opinion.

Other than my romantic attraction to women I could easily consider myself to be genderless. My genitals provided me with sexual pleasure which didn't need to be any specific gender type. All that mattered was that they were genitals and provided sexual pleasure. A lot of my sexual pleasure came from other parts of my body. Even though I was biologically male and have male characteristics I never felt the need to be masculine. If I was masculine it wasn't because of any effort I put into it. Along with male traits and characteristics, I also have a lot of female traits and feelings I have liked to experience but nevertheless doesn't make me specifically a female either. So as I mentioned... other than my romantic attraction to females I have no need for being labeled as any specific gender. I hope that doesn't come across as my being weird or strange but gender labels never really meant much to me. I was who I was and that's all. We all start life as females and other than what gender genitals we end up with I believe internally we are still a combination of both - only in different ratios.

I would like to add that my mind was always more important to me than my body and it is genderless.

I would certainly be willing to listen to your thoughts on that subject.

Some labels (nouns, pronouns) are required (to talk)

Do you want a cup of coffee?
Do ? want a ? of ?

Labels to pigeon hole, exclude (with rare exception), stereotype, support bigotry, discrimination or ignorance; useless

As a sex positive person and a bisexual, I consider myself a member of the LGBTQ+ community. That said, I believe the uproar of pronouns and gender identity are ridiculous. The solution would be to call everyone "He/Him" as that is technically the neuter pronoun. But it's not a hill to die on.

... @SloStroker...

... I can see your point. ...  The term mankind included all humans not just males.  ...  Being a good steward of something, does not mean you have to be male it covers females also.  ... Being brethren of an organization, (United Brethren) included everyone.  .... There are many more examples.

Yes sir. It seems The Who pronoun issue is more about political grandstanding than it is about respecting people. I have a lot of LGBTQ+ friends and we often laugh at the radicals. Most in the community just live normal lives and don't want to be apart of any controversy. I had a cousin who was trans and when he became a she, many people still called her "him/sir/he/" etc. He just ignored it. He told me once that he knew he wasn't "normal" and that was his problem, not everyone else's. Sadly we lost her to AIDS in the late 80's. She was on the HBO Undercover "What Sex Am I?" documentary. She was "Kathy".

Good question.
NIH article:
Early Assignment of Gender in True Hermaphroditism
"Based on a review of the relationship of external-internal genitalia, gonads, and karyotype of our own patients and those published by others, we believe that the appearance of the external genitalia alone allows a prompt and definitive gender assignment in infancy. This led us to develop a classification of external genitalia based on the following characteristics. Class I represents normal female genitalia, class II an enlarged clitoris, class III partially fused labioscrotal folds, class IV fused labioscrotal folds, class V a hypoplastic scrotum and penoscrotal hypospadias, and class VI represents normal male genitalia. We had two patients that were class II, two class III, three that were class IV, and one to IV should be raised as females; in class V, male gender assignment is preferable. This classification, based on the appearance of the external genitalia, allows a simple screening and prompt gender assignment in infants identified as true hermaphrodites."

The complications of sex/gender identity.

XY (male) vs Appearances and structure...

Swyer syndrome (1 in 80,000) is when a person has XY (male) chromosomes and functional female genitalia (vulva). While XY chromosomes usually result in the development of a penis and scrotum, people with Swyer syndrome develop a vagina, uterus and fallopian tubes.

People with Swyer syndrome don’t have sex glands (ovaries or testicles). Instead, they have functionless scar tissue (called streak gonads). This means they won’t go through puberty unless they have hormone replacement therapy. They also won’t become pregnant naturally but can conceive through egg donation.

Internal Genitalia (Internal Genitals)
These are the sex organs located inside the body:
Female: Includes the vagina, cervix, uterus, fallopian tubes, and ovaries.
Male: Includes the testes (testicles), epididymides, and vas deferens

Posted

Since genders are only important for the purpose of conception Sperm + Sperm = no conception. Egg + Sperm = no conception. Maybe Egg or Sperm (determined by internal geniyals) should determine gender. External genitals are essentially irrelevant. There are many ways to transport the sperm to the egg.

Thoughts??????

Summary:

1]Mainstream conservative and liberal gender theorists=

They are genetically male, pseudo hermaphrodite, there are no true human 'intersex'/hermaphrodites.

2] Critical gender theory/critical  social justice theorists (popularly known as woke)=

there is a broad range of intersex between binaries, and a spectrum of biological/genetic gender, just as there is with gender

My view or argument/which I support(if either=

Here they are:

If you had spoke to gender specialists in this country Nuder, you'd realise that this view of gender as body modification of choice is about as unlikely here as a stone age man getting into his Ford Mustang and driving to the local five and dime....

Irrelevant to the quoted passage.

Elon may say he hates transgenderism, but that kind (you describe) of world is far more likely in a tech driven, libertarian USA than here. A certain person rumoured to have undeveloped male equipment and his buddy, will soon find quaint old conservative ideas about humanity and identify are bad for business....

Maybe that same person will invade England, not the other way around, after he's through with all those other places he wants, as per the war of 1812 (see toxic masculinity thread),just like Musk wants. He is a Canadian citizen incidentally.

Tech Facist dictatorship under King you-know-who and prince Elon, or Stalinist dictatorship under king Charles and princess (soon to be in the tower) Starmer?. You pays your money  your, you  takes your choice...
