How old were you and under what circumstances did you realize that you were less than optimally endowed?

I first realized that I was on the small side when I was 14, in eighth grade gym class when we had to take group showers. Almost all the boys had entered puberty with both pubic hair, a longer and thicker penis, and scrotal enlargement. I was alone with no pubic hair (until 16), a tiny thin penis, and small tight balls. Luckily for me, no one made fun and I figured I would catch up in time. While I entered puberty on the late side (16-17), I never caught up which I became fully aware of when I visited a clothing optional beach in my 20’s. Today, I enjoy going to a nude beach and being the smallest  or at least one of the smallest guys there. At last, I have fully embraced my size deficiency.

Grade 8, just turned 13, not hit puberty, some guys bushy and "large"
Next year had pubic hair, underarms, started chest hairs, penis stayed smaller.  Especially after PE, 1.5" buried in pubes.
Don't remember when the hair and growth started, just remember in Grade 9, pubic hair was in.

Also remember our PE teacher the first day.  In the change room, said everyone showers.
And then gave a pep talk, 'some of you might never have seen other naked guys, some of you will be further along in maturing and all different sizes.  If I hear any bulling, rude comments, I WILL DEAL WITH YOU.

Don't know if this was the standard pep talk for PE teachers, but never heard of any teasing, bullying all through high school.

I’ve always known I was on the small side, but was always sexually active and good at pleasing women.

I told the story in other threads, but summarizing, I was peeing during a school trip and one of the bullies saw me and started laughing about my dick and saying how small it was. I was 11 years old, so it was before I hit puberty. 

Since then, I started paying attention in the locker room and I was always the smallest or one of the smallest throughout my high school years.

I actually thought I was a good size when I was younger and it wasn’t until my late 20s when I had my first girl tell me a lot of her exes were bigger than me and it made me actually measure myself (almost 4.5 inches) and start looking up sizes. I was in denial for a while until I saw other guys naked in a spa in Europe and the final straw was going to a spa here with one of my best friends and seeing each other naked for the first time.

Between the ages of 4 and 7, I saw a few of my neighborhood friends dicks quite a few times. I was younger than a couple of them so it made sense for mine to be smaller. The other kid was a few months younger than me. His was closer to the older kid's sizes but I didn't think too much about it at the time. The wake up call occurred when I was 7 and we played doctor with a couple of neighborhood girls and 2 other boys who were younger. It was the first time I recall any of us having boners in front of each other. The size of our boners went in the same order as our ages except for mine. Me and a kid who was 3 years younger than me had the smallest ones. The other kid was 2 years younger than me and had me beat by a mile.

I don't recall any locker room pep talks from the PE teachers but thankfully never had a problem with bullying.

A4, hmmm, I  was aware, vaguely,  that I was smaller than most in jr high pe. Sizing was confirmed in hs by my girlfriend telling [ everyone ] that I was small.  But she kept having sex with me, so it did NOT seem to be a problem. After many decades, and a reaction to medication, I am even smaller now than at that time. I WILL, however,  object to the phrasing and vocabulary choices in your question. I never gave it much thought when I was in my early teens since I didn't often see anyone else. I started playing sports more around 16 and would use the showers with everyone else and realised I was on the smaller side. 

But it never stopped me, never felt self conscious about being naked around others even if they were larger. I used to play tennis with 2 guys at work, probably the two most hung guys I've known and would happily shower with them afterwards.

I'm happy being naked at the beach or naturist clubs with men and women.

I wish I had your confidence! I am still pretty shy about using the open showers at work, especially being on the smaller side. I am not so shy at nudist resorts since people there don't know me as well.

Hey Toadfish, if I Recall correctly, once I've seen a picture of you naked (I think you shared a link to another website where you uploaded that pic) and you didn't look small to me at all, besides you had a great body, pretty fit back then.. So I guess you shouldn't be worried when showering with Co workers

That was probably back when dick.net was still alive.  I was much more fit back then than I am now! That was a pretty flattering pic.  Still not comfortable showering with co-workers,  especially after being shrunken after exercising.

I had one incident that made a big difference in my perception and understanding of my size.  I was in my early twenties and perhaps a bit naive and perhaps a bit dense.  I would read that the average penis was 5-7 inches, so being 5 inches long, I thought I must be about average.  But I would occasionally catch a glimpse of another guy at a urinal or see other guys at the gym and always had a nagging feeling that most seemed kind of big to me, bigger than me. 

Then a female friend of mine went out of town and asked me to house sit for her.  I was being snoopy and looked through a few of her drawers and found a realistic dildo.  It seemed really big to me, much larger than my penis.  In particular, it was much thicker than my penis, feeling very big in my hand.  It was only then that I really thought about penis girth.  I measured it and it was 7 x 5.  Looking online for information about girth, I saw that was not far from the average man's girth.  I measured my own girth at 4 inches and saw at one of the size calculator websites that my girth put me in the 13th percentile.  It was then that I started noticing that other guys' limp dicks were much thicker than my own and most seemed about the same girth as mine when hard.  Now my prior suspicions made sense - it became clear to me that I had a very skinny penis compared to most men.

Well, that's something that happens to all of us. My small package is always shrunk after exercising. I always try to fluff it a bit before taking my clothes off, but usually that doesn't work as it did sometimes in the past. What I try every now and then is hitting the showers with hot water and remain there facing the wall until my goodies get a "more decent look" (meaning, hang a bit more) -although this method is not 100% effective most of the times-and then turn around facing others, if the showers are communal
