wuerstchen Posted August 24 Report Posted August 24 Anyone here with experience with this? After a scary episode of 26-second cardiac arrest (fortunately I was in the ER when it happened) I had a pacemaker installed a week ago. During healing I must refrain from sexual activity, but I have read that pacemakers improve sexual function in older males. I have to wait and see.
Appreciater Posted August 24 Report Posted August 24 Best wishes for your speedy recovery.!! 👍 So sorry you have to go through this, heart episodes are nothing fun. 😐 toadfish327 and Mrk12345 2
wuerstchen Posted August 24 Author Report Posted August 24 Thanks! I’m lucky I was in ER or I would be dead now. Before going to the ER I had three of these episodes that day, nausea combined with dizziness, and briefly passed out after one. Then I decided it was time for the ER. Appreciater and JasonBeam 2

Glad you are doing ok now, modern medicine is amazing. My brother had a major heart attack maybe 10 years ago, and now he has the combo device (pacemaker and defibrillator), he doesn't tell me very much about his health, I kinda think he depressed and doesn't want to talk about it. I wish I had more information to pass on, but I hope going forward everything will work out for you, keep us updated .. NuderThanNude and toadfish327 2
wuerstchen Posted August 24 Author Report Posted August 24 Many thanks! I am optimistic. I already feel more energy. My low heart rate reduced my stamina. Appreciater, JasonBeam, NuderThanNude and 2 others 5
I Didnt Grow Much Posted August 24 Report Posted August 24 (edited) I had Bradycardia (nerve bundle at heart not synching up the chambers), my heart rate hit 32 at home, and the monitor I wore showed it went as low as 27. The doctor said the only fix was a pacemaker. I read about it at length and in 2023 had one implanted. Fortunately, I only suffered the extra low numbers for a very short time. Immediately following the implant, I had so much more energy, and felt like my old self again. It didn’t affect my libido at all, which was something I had worried about. canuck45 Posted August 26 Report Posted August 26 AI How a Pacemaker Helps Better Energy: Fixing slow heart rhythms (bradycardia) restores proper blood flow, reducing fatigue during daily activities and physical exertion. [1] Improved Quality of Life: Studies show that patients often experience better overall well-being and physical performance after getting a device, which can positively affect intimacy. [1, 2] Relief from Fear: Treating dangerous arrhythmias allows patients to feel more secure, reducing the anxiety that often leads to avoiding sex.
