JTT Posted October 3 Report Posted October 3 Hey All, Due to an issue with us being able to process payments and thus accept donations and SOS Memberships - in an attempt to keep the site up and running for you - I'm experimenting with on site advertising network. This is a work in progress and will try to make them as unobtrusive as possible. Need to test and see if it's a viable way to keep the site alive. Fingers crossed. :). Thanks for your patience.
The Jester Posted October 3 Report Posted October 3 (edited) I think that unobtrusive aspect may need a little work Josh...😉 >teasing✅️ (with all due respect) ️ ️️ Edited October 3 by The Jester
The Jester Posted October 3 Report Posted October 3 (understand the funding thing must be a difficult situation)
JTT Posted October 3 Author Report Posted October 3 Yeah, gotta essentially come up with better than a car payment per month and that's not something I can do right now myself for too many more months.
canuck45 Posted October 3 Report Posted October 3 Well so far they don't seem too intrusive. If it helps cover the costs, it's something we just have to live with
JTT Posted October 3 Author Report Posted October 3 We sall see - I don't want any pop ups or pop unders or videos that play - so I've just added "banners". Lets see what happens. :p canuck45 1
Appreciater Posted October 3 Report Posted October 3 (edited) It is messing up my system, says I have notifications but I can't get to them. Advertisements are covering up everything and they're terrible. If I want prostitutes I'll look for them online. And I don't want prostitutes. Pages slip and slide around all over the screen. The no dick picture rule is out the door with these ad pop ups. Can't enter the three bar tab in the upper right hand corner. Locked out of my menu pages. Other problems too many to list. Will take a whole lot of relearning my way around. Edited October 3 by Appreciater
new2day Posted October 3 Report Posted October 3 I had problems opening the menu on mobile to read notifications, had to switch to desktop mode.
Appreciater Posted October 3 Report Posted October 3 The world is ever-changing, this is something we will have to learn to deal with.
new2day Posted October 3 Report Posted October 3 Just realised that on mobile the pop up for notifications are shifted to the right, so they're off screen. You can access them by scrolling so website is now wider than the mobile viewport.
NuderThanNude Posted October 3 Report Posted October 3 (edited) I don't mind ads but these 'not safe for work' ads with a guy sucking a big dick is enough to make me leave. We cannot post naked photos but the ads are much worse. There is no way I can view this site with those kind of ads on my home computer. They are obnoxious! I feel like I'm a XXXX Porn site! Appreciater Posted October 3 Report Posted October 3 I was wondering just how informational intrusive these advertisers are.? ... I have location off, but the ads are targeted at Indiana in general. ... I suppose going by my IP. 🤔

I understand things must have gotten pretty bad by this stage ( choice between what's happened and end of the site?) but, with respect, I have to agree this can't be the answer. Not sure if everyone's seeing what I'm seeing, but it's basically hard porn: double pentration, cum coated backside, taped up sex and body writing or tattoo reading "a*** s***". And there are vids continually running, dominating the whole page visually. I'm no prude, but it goes against many of our rules, ( shaming, nonporn), the whole ethos of the place as is. We give the impression of being hypocritical. We can't cut out the odd dic pic, or some crappy college type discussion I've cooked up about porni* In ancient Athens for leaning into shame based S&M, then have a video of a real life modern version's plugged and taped up c*** tatooed ass!. In the UK the place will likely also require registration, or even be banned.. 7 hours ago, Appreciater said: It is messing up my system, says I have notifications but I can't get to them. Advertisements are covering up everything and they're terrible. It's crashed the entire system: I have only just managed to even sign in, and Thought my AC had been deleted, or I'd been banned. The whole community/site will essentially have to be re written ( software wise, and values/ethos/rules wise). Realise there's hard choices to be made, and that things change, and I'm not against advertising per se, but surely there must be a better way than this: non sexual/ less explicit/extreme adds, changing to cheaper hosting/host that enables subscriptions?. Also a "catch 22" situation is created, as the content becomes ultra high risk ( the reason for pay pal ban, etc to begin wifh). I did try to suggest a general discussion about this ( and other issues) before now. That's all I have to say. *Class of prostitutes (of both sexes ) in the ancient world required to play a submissive sexual role, and have only anal sex. canuck45 Posted Saturday at 03:54 PM Report Posted Saturday at 03:54 PM Since pay pal and others see it as an adult site (right or wrong) probably a lot of ads are of a sexual nature....algorithms you know. AND non porn advertisers might not want to be associated with an "adult site" No problems signing or any other problems in for me (but I am on computer). 1 hour ago, The Jester said: as the content becomes ultra high risk It is ALREADY considered high risk. Vendors that provide for CC payments for high risk sites require about $2000 a year on top of the current costs + a percentage. 1 hour ago, The Jester said: I have to agree this can't be the answer. No, an alternative is 100 people buy $50 membership/donation, paid by cheque. That would be a lifeline for a while

That will buy a year's life. Unless there are a lot of wealthy people on here or those who do nothing else but subscribe to this site I think you will be hard pressed to find people who will pay $100 per year for a subscription. This has become a world of subscriptions. So people need to pick and choose what they subscribe to or will find that they come up short financially at the end of the month. There are a number of people here with insecurities about their penis size and other things looking for help or to talk to others that might be able to justify a subscription. But the people here that can help get very little out of the site so you will probably see them vanish. With a $100 annual subscription fee and nobody to talk to that might be able to help them they may not stick around for long either. I think you are caught between a rock and a hard place with it comes to advertising revenue. I see where non pornographic advertisers will be reluctant to get involved with the types of topics discussed here but others who would be willing would give us what we have seen today. I can say in all honesty... that just as I don't visit other sites with these kinds of ads I would no longer visit here. Edited Saturday at 04:43 PM by NuderThanNude

I never wanting anything for nothing during my life. The important things is that you have to provide value to people to get them to pay. If there is enough value people will pay for a subscription and you won't need advertising. But if not you will need advertising that doesn't dilute the value that your site provides by being overbearing or obnoxious. An example is where I am about to stop watching the world news on ABC. The advertising has become so overbearing that it's not worth spending 80% of my time watching ads for 20% of content. Where most of that time is wasted telling me (over and over between ad segments) what is to come if I stay tuned.

I was beginning to think that I was the only one who thought this about ABC news.!! ... They waste more time than necessary, and could give more ..or expand more..on the news items.

Unfortunately because the payment processing was stopped measurection lost over $2000 in attempted subscriptions I think (I could be wrong) that shows the support (value) is here.
