State of the Site - SAVE OUR SITE - Can We Stay In Existance?

This is my last ditch effort to keep this site online and available.

Many of you have seen my other postings about loss of our payment processor. Setting up payment processing to sell "subscriptions" or "memberships" here is problematic.  We have previously been removed from PayPal and now Stripe.  Setting up with "adult" payment processors is problematic and more costly than the small amount we were receiving.

We have been blessed for many years to pretty much collect what was needed to cover the site's operating expenses.

Upon recently losing ability to process payments, that is no longer the case.  Measurection has run out of money, bank account has run negative, and I'm personally adding funds to keep the expenses covered and bank account positive.   This is not sustainable for me, and something I have decided I can only continue another month, maybe two.  I was planning a tentative SHUT DOWN DATE for the site of December 1st.

We need $4000ish dollars a year to cover hosting, software licensing and business fees.  Nobody here collects any type of salary or payment for services.   Everyone actively running the site, myself included, does so with their time for Free.   The last several years tax returns... if there's been $30 profit to show at the year end, that's been about the most.  Some years we've lost $20 or $30 overall.  Fine, I've been happy that it basically covers itself.    Alan, one of our administrators has always offered to help financially if I needed, but I never did.  He instead dedicated countless hours here, until he passed away a few months ago.  Rest in Peace RodENuf! <3

Measurection has been online OVER 25 years.  When site founder Sean faced similar challenges to keep the site going, he created a campaign called "SOS" which stands for "Save Our Site" and generous members over the last 25 years have essentially donated to keep us online.  That morphed a bit, and we tried to offer different levels of access, in essence a subscription to encourage income.

Now we are back to no ability to take in income, or sell subscriptions.

In a last ditch effort to keep the lights on past December 1st, I'm trying a few things....

1) Advertising - we have substantial traffic and we have never had this.  I'm experimenting locations and ad network just to see if our traffic might be enough to generate enough income.  I'm trying to choose options that are as unobtrusive as possible (aka no pop ups etc...)

2) If you wish to donate, you can mail check or money order payable to "Measurection Corp" to:
   Measurection Corp
   14316 Reese Blvd, B133
   Huntersville, NC 28078

3) I've setup an alternate PayPal.  I'm not going to "link" this up to the site for actual subscriptions, but will treat it as just donations.  You can donate by CLICKING HERE or scanning the QR Code Below.  That will let you contribute via PayPal, Venmo or Credit Card.   I can't guarantee this method will last for us long term, but let's try!   You can also click "Support Our Site" in the menubar at the top!

For over 25 years this site has been a source of support and connection and community for thousands and thousands of users.   If you are able to contribute at all to help us keep the lights on.  Nobody here is trying to make a profit.  Honestly my life would be easier to just let it shut down.   But it's meant a lot to me over the years, and I know it's meant a lot to many of you - and I hate to see it simply lost forever.

I'm not sure how much the ads can make... if they don't make enough to make a difference, or we receive enough in donations I will remove them.   There is a spot on the donation form to include your username.  It would be a manual process on our end, but we could tag people who donate into a group so that they aren't seeing the ads.  So that could be a perk of donating, I can turn off the ads for you. ;)

If you have questions, feel free to reply here.    Sometimes people reply with demands and complaints etc.... the internet and hiding behind a keyboard makes it easy for people to have opinions.  Just know... you're complaining to the person who is spending money to give you a place to complain.  And other people helping on the site are doing so out of the goodness of their hearts.   If you can't say something nice or supportive, then saying nothing is best.

I'm attaching a screenshot of the bank today, overdrawn by $44 and incurred another overdraft, as well as a QR Code which you can scan to DONATE via PayPal, Credit Card or Venmo.

Again the donation link is: https://www.paypal.com/donate/?hosted_button_id=SHGFXE2HGSB2G

I'll be making a donation shortly but I am curious, with all the porn sites out there how are they collecting fees? Surely there are processing companies that cover this kind of content

Another site I visit uses this company to process payments. It is a gay dating site with lots of nude pics so maybe they can help you.

There are lots.    But they are cost prohibitive for us.  We used to use CC Bill.

Our annual expenses are roughly $4000 and we take in about that.  Last year $30 profit... other years about $30 loss. LOL. Income has declined steadily as "forums" have mostly died due to social media.  But we've also been able to reduce expenses.

Visa and MasterCard charge all "high risk" payment processors an annual fee.  $950 for Visa and $1000 for MasterCard.  You have to accept both.    So that's $1950 per YEAR.   That immediately puts our yearly expenses at $6000.  That's in addition to the much higher fees they charge, because most of their clients are high volume and can afford it.  I look at 4 other of the larger adult payment processors.  The fees vary, but the Visa/Mastercard thing was consistent and identical across the board.

Sadly I feel "forums" aren't the wave of growth for the internet.  Speaking from someone who's reliant on forum software (I used to write, sell and support) used to be a majority of my income.   So I'm not sure banking on going that route, hoping we could increase revenue is a solid plan.   Not to mention, those systems don't work out of the box with this forum software, so we'd need to buy or develop something different to integrate it.

I've done work for an on porn sites, and their average monthly revenue is often $30,000-$50,000/month... so $2000 a year is nothing.   For us that's a 50% increase in our budget.

Just a follow up to my first post; I'll try to send a check on a monthly basis . . . this site is worth saving.

I understand, it's a shame because this site has helped me immensely to accept myself as I am and open up to new experiences. I hope all of us regulars step up.

Yes, I hope so - I'd like to either see if we can make it work or shut it down by end of year, because then I could file "final" tax return.  If we linger into 2027 then I have to pay annual fee to state again, pay to do another year's taxes etc...   A handful of people have stepped up and we've covered about a month.  I know some people said they were sending money too.

Right now I can't access some of the PayPal money yet - as they hold stuff done via CC (they have released stuff that was donated with an existing paypal balance).   I've applied for a new measurection bank account (so I can link to PayPal). So working on it.

Thank you everyone!!!

When I first came here almost 25 years ago (24 years, 1 month, and 16 days to be precise), I was on shaky ground.

I had serious issues with my self-esteem. I had come out of a difficult relationship, and was struggling with substance abuse issues. I felt very alone; and then I discovered this place, and I didn't feel quite so alone anymore. I discovered a community of men who had many of the same issues that I had. I read the posts, and made friends, and they offered me encouragement and advice.

This site saved my life! And I'm not being hyperbolic when I say that. I had a loaded gun in my closet, and there were more than a few nights when I thought the only way to solve my problems was a bullet through my skull. The support I received here, along with meds and therapy, was what stopped me.

I want this site to continue; to continue helping me, and to help men who come after me who struggle with these same issues.

We can save this site. If enough of us help out we can keep this site going. It honestly wouldn't take that much, if it's divided among all of us.

If hundred of us donate 3.33 a month that would save this place. 11 cents a day.

If two hundred of us donate 1.67 cents a month that would save this place. 5.5 cents a day.

300 ... 83 cents a month

Surely 83 cents a month is worth it to save a life . . .

It's hard to believe that I have been visiting this site for 6 ½ years now. I saw it as a site where people who had issues (generally relating to penis size and being humiliated) came to find help and companionship. I didn't fit into that category myself as I had always loved my smaller than average penis, always had great sex, and have a high level of self esteem and confidence in myself. But what bothered me was reading about the misery that filled a lot of the lives here. It bothered me as I knew first hand it was unnecessary and thought maybe I could help by sharing what I had learned that helped me.

I procrastinated about becoming a paid member throughout that time because I was a paid member on another site I had spent years with that I got a lot from in finding others with similar interest and sharing ideas. I felt bad about spending time here and not being a paid member but I looked at it that... First off I wasn't here to gain anything myself except some new friends and conversation. Secondly, I felt my payment would be in trying to help others and share what I had learned (which worked well for me) and hopefully provide what others were looking for here.

But with that being said... I really hate to see a site that provides so much value go out of existence. So for me it was time to open my wallet. I hope others that feel they are getting something from this site can do the same as it cannot be done with just a handful of people.

As they say... "You don't know what you had till it's gone".

I have followed this site virtually from the beginning. It’s a wonderful community! I would miss it terribly and just donated $100 through PayPal.

I tried to donate via Venmo, but it seems that donations require the use of the app to scan the QR code.  Is there an alternative for my Venmo account that uses only the Venmo website?

OK, I figure we'll make this like the old PBS Pledge Drive.  We know about what it takes to run for a year.  The goal is $4000 - I've setup a progress bar at the top of the page.   Once we hit funding for a year... then we can stop talking about it (for at least a year Ha!).

So if you are able to help us hit our goal, you can click the button at the top of the screen.

Note if you donate, the bar doesn't quite update in real-time - it updates when I enter your donation in my spreadsheet.  When I do that (a little maual process) I'll also add you to the donor group and you won't see ads anymore, and you'll see the galleries.  '

Let me know if you have questions! Thanks All who have donated so far!
